His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers, chaired the regular meeting held by the Council this morning at its headquarters in the Emiri Diwan.
After the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Issa bin Saad Al-Juffali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, stated the following:
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council praised the results of the state visit paid by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, "may God protect him", to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 22nd and 23rd of this month.
The Council affirmed that His Highness' fruitful discussions with His Excellency President Dr. Arif Alvi, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Prime Minister Imran Khan, and the brotherly atmosphere that characterized the visit, and the memorandums of understanding signed during it, formed a new platform for strategic cooperation, strengthening friendship, mutual trust, and common understanding for the benefit of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, peace, and stability in the region.
The Council also affirmed that the directives of His Highness the Amir, following the visit, to allocate $3 billion for new investments in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the form of deposits and direct investments, will push the economic partnership between the two countries forward and open new horizons for the development of their bilateral cooperation in various fields.
After that, the council considered the topics on the agenda as follows:
First - Take the necessary measures to issue the following draft laws, after the Council of Ministers reviewed the recommendations of the Shura Council in their regard:
1- A draft law on fireworks.
2- A draft law on military decorations, badges, and medals.
3- A draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (4) of 2008 regarding renting real estate.
4- A draft law amending some provisions of Decree-Law No. 10 of 1974 regarding the establishment of Qatar Petroleum.
5- A draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (15) of 2010 regarding the prohibition of housing gatherings of workers within family housing areas.
Second - The Cabinet reviewed the letter of His Excellency the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the President of the Court of Cassation regarding the results of the work of the working group charged with studying the mechanisms and requirements for the establishment of the Investment and Trade Court, within the framework of the initiative to develop justice systems and create an environment attractive for investment, and decided to approve a draft law establishing the Investment and Trade Court, and the requirements for the establishment of the court.
Third - Approval of the Prime Minister's draft decision to form a committee to support the competitiveness of national products and combat practices harmful to them in international trade.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry prepared the project within the framework of completing the issuance of the necessary decisions to activate the provisions of Law No. 2 of 2019 regarding supporting the competitiveness of national products and combating practices harmful to them in international trade.
Under the provisions of the draft, the committee is formed of three representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, including the president, the vice president, and representatives of the concerned authorities.
The committee undertakes the competencies stipulated in Law No. 2 of 2019 referred to, including examining complaints related to violations of the provisions of this law, and conducting the necessary investigation in this regard.
