His Excellency Judge Khaled Ali Al-Obaidli, President of the Investment and Trade Court, received Mr. Ali Abusharbak, Director General of the Qatar Chamber, on the sidelines of the introductory workshop organized by the Court in cooperation with the Chamber's Legal Affairs Department.
The Court organized an expanded introductory workshop entitled "Introduction to the Investment and Trade Court and Its Jurisdiction," held on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at the Court's premises. The workshop was attended by a number of partners and representatives from both the public and private sectors, as well as individuals with an interest in legal and investment affairs.
The workshop aimed to enhance the level of legal awareness among partners and to shed light on the vital role the Court plays in supporting the investment climate in the country, by providing a specialized judicial environment that contributes to expediting the resolution of commercial and investment disputes with efficiency and transparency.
The workshop programme included a detailed presentation on the Court's establishment and subject-matter jurisdiction, along with an explanation of its operational mechanisms and the procedures followed in hearing cases, in line with international best practices in this field. The role of the Case Management Office was also reviewed, as one of the key pillars in organizing the progress of cases, through the follow-up of procedures, ensuring the smooth flow of judicial work, and reducing litigation timeframes.
The workshop also addressed the litigation system adopted by the Court, highlighting the efforts made to develop and simplify procedures, thereby contributing to the achievement of prompt justice and reinforcing investor confidence. During the sessions, the floor was opened for discussion with attendees, where a number of inquiries were addressed regarding legal procedures and mechanisms for filing cases, as well as the challenges that companies may face and ways to navigate them.
This workshop is part of a series of awareness initiatives organized by the Court in cooperation with various entities, aimed at consolidating legal culture and strengthening partnership with the private sector, in support of the State's drive towards building a diversified economy that attracts investment.
