Her Excellency Judge Dr. Maha bint Mansour Al Thani, Court of Appeal Judge at the Investment and Trade Court, participated in the activities of the Second Gulf Legal and Arbitration Week through her participation in the third session entitled “Women in Law, Judiciary, and Arbitration in the GCC States,” which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 25 to 29 January 2026.

During the session, Her Excellency presented a working paper entitled “The Experience of Women in the Qatari Judiciary,” in which she addressed the professional challenges associated with judicial work. She emphasized that the judiciary is a leadership role that requires a high level of academic and practical competence, as well as continuous ability to keep pace with legislative developments and rapidly evolving events at both the local and international levels.

She noted that among the most significant challenges facing judges is the need for continuous development of judicial and legal character, as well as contributing to addressing matters where legislation may contain regulatory gaps, through judicial reasoning and proposing legislative amendments that enhance the stability of the legal system.

Her Excellency also reviewed the pivotal role played by the Investment and Trade Court in strengthening confidence in the investment environment in the State of Qatar, explaining that the establishment of the Court forms part of Qatar National Vision 2030 and reflects the State’s commitment to providing a fair and effective legal environment that protects investors’ rights and offers specialized and expedited mechanisms for resolving commercial and investment disputes.

She further explained that the Court’s specialized jurisdiction over commercial and investment disputes, particularly those related to free zones and foreign companies, has contributed to building the confidence of international investors and creating a legal environment aligned with global best practices. She also affirmed that the expansion of investments and partnerships between Qatari and foreign companies in implementing major projects and contracts inside and outside the State has strengthened the Court’s position as a primary forum for resolving disputes arising from such contracts, due to its speed, efficiency, and professionalism in accordance with the highest international standards.

This participation reflects the Investment and Trade Court’s commitment to strengthening its regional presence and contributing to the exchange of judicial and legal expertise across the GCC states, in support of the Supreme Judicial Council’s direction toward building an advanced justice system founded on quality and professionalism.
